About us
We are a four-partner firm working from a
single office in central Aberdeen. We cover a broad spectrum of
needs for both private and business clients. The firm takes pride in
the fact that it has for many years generated loyalty on the part of
its solicitors, its staff and its clients.
Three of the partners have been with the firm since they commenced
legal practice, staff have been with the firm for over twenty years,
and the firm has numerous long-standing clients with family
connections going back over generations.
We may be “old-fashioned” in matters such as honesty, fairness and
politeness, but we are progressive and proactive both in our
approach to client work and in our use of technology.
The firm name goes back to James D Mackie, a solicitor who commenced
practice early last century, and whose portrait now graces our
library. Between the wars he took David Dewar into partnership.
The senior partner from the late 1940s until the early 1980s was the
much respected Frank Ramsay, whose place was taken over on his
retirement by Ian MacLean, and more recently by Richard Shirreffs.
