The Partners
Richard Shirreffs
Born and educated in Aberdeen, and with the firm since 1970.
Conversant with most legal fields, but gravitates more than the
other partners to commercial work and has little current enthusiasm
for court work. Married with two daughters, both also now in law
(not in Aberdeen). Involved with Aberdeen Solicitors’ Property
Centre since the mid-1970s, and company secretary since its
incorporation in 1978. Currently Treasurer to Society of Advocates
in Aberdeen. Leisure interests; hill walking, skiing, classical
music, and DIY.
Michael Monro
Born and educated in Aberdeen, and with the firm since 1974. A
specialist and much respected name in the field of criminal court
work. Married with two sons. Leisure interests family and rugby
related.
John MacRae
Qualified in 1971, set up with Raymond Park in 1973 as Park & MacRae,
who amalgamated with Mackie & Dewar in 1998. Main areas of practice
are property law, and private client work, including wills, trusts
and tax planning. Involved with Aberdeen Solicitors’ Property Centre
since the mid-1970s, a director since its incorporation and chairman
since 2001. Part-time tutor at Aberdeen University in private client
part of post-graduate diploma in professional practice. Member of
the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and Fellow of the
Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. Married with three children. A
keen runner, cyclist and golfer.
Alistair Marshall
Secondary and subsequent education in Aberdeen. With the firm since
1979. Equally at home in conveyancing, trusts/executries and
criminal or civil court work. An accredited mediator and the firm’s
point of reference on employment issues. Married with two sons.
Leisure interests music, DIY and family-related.
